(If your remote uses AA batteries, slip the assembly into the included AA sheath.) You can control your components inside or outside your home, upstairs or downstairs and through walls, floors and doors without any direct line-of-sight. This enables your existing remote to become "RF enabled".  So if you have your cable box located behind your TV, in a cabinet, or in another room, you can use this to replace the battery in the remote, making it transmit RF to the receiver that comes with the product.  Easy setup.
